Blind Mercy A Viking Romance The Blind Series Book 2 edition by Violetta Rand Romance eBooks Reviews

I highly anticipated the second book of Violetta Rand’s serie A Viking Romance, and was not disappointed. Blind Mercy continues with the family of Rand and Noelle with their son Ty, and the English Lady Rachelle. Violetta has the ability to take you from hatred to love in this historical Viking book. Through many dangers, misunderstandings and emotions, the reader is drawn into the turmoil between Vikings, with their pagan beliefs and Christianity, their beliefs becoming stronger. You are drawn into the emotional lives of a Viking and an English, as they merge their desires, religion and false rumors of each other. As a reader you are emerged into the conflict of religion and conflict between Vikings and English. Through all the obstacles, will love triumph?
I enjoyed this book and look forward to the next release.
Blind Mercy is the second book in the Blind series, but for those who missed the first - Blind Allegiance, this book easily stands on its own.

Violetta Rand does a great job of painting a picture and transporting me to the time of Vikings, without bogging down the pace with lengthy descriptions. The book is skillfully written, keeping me wanting to read more until the very last word. Violetta's voice serves this genre well and really sets a tone that actually adds to the story itself.

The author keeps the reader cheering for the couple, expertly prolonging their romance. There's great tension and suspense, without going overboard.

The story itself is realistic, while maintaining just enough whimsy that I still know I'm reading a romance. The villains are bad without being over the top, and the secondary characters all serve a purpose and leave the reader wondering more about their stories. The hero is a Viking in every sense of the word, but without the usual stereotypes that plague certain historical genres. Her heroine is strong, but still soft - vulnerable.

I recommend Blind Mercy to anyone who loves a good historical romance - Viking or otherwise. The story crosses genres and is really enjoyable no matter what your typical preference might be.

And if you haven't already - check out her first release too.
I enjoyed the book and I thought that it was a good, easy read. After reading the first book in the series i knew that I would enjoy this one as well. The main issue I had with the book was the similar plot line. I felt like some of the scenes/pace/evil characters of the book were very similar to the first one. At times it felt like the writer just replaced Noelle with Rachelle etc. Now I do say that that was only some of the times. The book did have some unique features to the story. The other issue I had which kept me from giving it 5 stars was the beginning of the plot line. Honestly, I got kind of annoyed with Rachelle and how she treated Try. She left the battle field with him, he tried to get her to leave from him multiple times but she stayed. Then when she reaches his home all she wants to do is leave? I just found that to be tedious and annoying.
In this second book in the Blind series the journey towards HEA for enemies to lovers Rachelle and Tyr is a rocky one due to outside forces of jealousy and greed along with betrayal from within. These two start out as enemies but their shared grief binds them together in an emotional coupling full of sexual tension and ultimately steamy encounters.

Rachelle is an admirable heroine who lost her parents at an early age and was then raised by her Uncle, who took care of her just like a father. After a bloody battle, while searching for her Uncle, she comes across Tyr and is immediately taken to his homeland where he plans to ransom her. Things soon change though and what follows is a compelling romance between two strong-willed individuals. Throughout her losses Rachelle has survived and accepts her change in circumstances with bravery. She's no shrinking violet in standing up for herself and I was rooting for her every step of the way in her dealings with Tyr's petty mistress Frida and her continuing hope in being reunited with her Uncle.

Tyr is the son of the protagonists in the previous installment and is the quintessential Viking in looks, words, and deeds. He's strong-willed, confident, and loyal with a surprisingly kindhearted side as witnessed by his reactions to his brother's death. There was great depth to him that was brought out most clearly in Rachelle's presence and made him an admirable hero.

The author depicted this bloody and harsh Viking world in a vivid manner showing her great care in research. From the compelling characters, to the dramatic twists and turns, to the villains coming from every corner, this read quickly immerses you in the action from the very first page. I'm excited that there's another book to come and am intrigued to see how the author will redeem the character of Aaron as he takes center stage in the next release. Fans of the historical genre should definitely read this as the Viking era isn't one seen very often in romance and Ms. Rand does an admirable job in depicting it.
Story line is simple ... a Viking bringing a Saxon woman back to Norway with him. But there is no sparks. The character development could be better. The heroine - Rachelle - in the book is silly yet thinks she is strong. She lets her mouth runs away with her, talks before she thinks. Makes bad choices all the time. She is weak. I cannot understand why she went willingly with the Viking (Tyr) to Norway, when she found him laying among the dead in the battle field when her objective in the battle field is to find her uncle.

The hero - Tyr - is no better. He is protrayed / depicted to be someone of strong character, good looking, have strength, good in battle/ swordplay & lustful. Yet he makes bad decision to conceal the reason why he wanted to bring Rachelle with him to Norway & to keep her. He did nothing to curb the antics of his cousin who is a trouble maker, to sow discord in his domain.

It is so trying to finish reading this book. I am so happy when I finally reached the end of the story.
Didn't really like it. Story dragged and love scenes very graphic.
